Arilapa to La Fortuna

The 3 hour drive turned to six as we drove around and through the smallest little coffee towns, up mountain roads, behind huge trucks, avoiding mud slides left and right and of course trying to find some where to stop and pee in between! We stoped to ask directions 10 times , and the girls counted 21 stray dogs along the way. WE did finally make our way into this sweet little town, we parted ways with our new found friends with plans to meet up tomorrow. and then off again on another search for our next hostel. Unfortunately, when we found it they had booked our room wrong.....and we were looking at the smallest room with only one bed! We worked our way out of having to pay for the night and headed up the hill to try and meet back up with eh two other couples we are traveling with. They were going to splurge and stay at Tabacon a 5 star resort with the most amazing hot springs. We already had passes for the springs for the next day, so though we would put that toward the room and enjoy the night. The room was nothing compared to the water!! This is the most amazing place I have ever been on earth! It is a HUGE river flowing like crazy, pooling off into sweet little and big springs all over the place. THe best part...this river is 100 degrees. Steam is all around you the canopy of the rainforest in all mist, and you are at the base of one very large, very active volcano! Pure bliss.
WE stayed and enjoyed the springs for the night and most of the next day. Then we all headed out and found a great local place to stay for 20$ a night. Kayna, our local friend car/a/vanning with us, cooked us an amazing costa rican dinner of rice and beans, platanos, and pina fresca! YUm.
We slept well and headed off again the next morning on another adventure!
